A sweet woody (birch) incense
A few months back I got a bit obsessed with finding the perfect incense perfume for myself. The hunt was triggered by Serge Lutens L'Orpheline because while I love L'Orpheline, it doesn't last long on me.
While discussing this search, a close friend of mine suggested that I try Nasomatto Blamage, adding that it's stronger than CDG2. I had already tried CDG2 by that time and I did like it except again the longevity was barely an hour on me.
I finally bought the official vial of Blamage along with a few others. Blamage blew me away. It was exactly what I was looking for without realising it.
Blamage is a sweet woody (birch) incense. It's smoky but not a dense smoke. The incense isn't spicy temple-ish incense we sometimes come across in Amouage perfumes. It's white, it gives me visuals of white in my mind, it feels serene. It feels like sweet, clean smoke.
Projection on me is probably a 1 foot bubble for the initial hour and longevity is moderate. I can smell it if I put my nose to my skin after 5 hours but it's definitely become a skin scent by then. It's perfectly unisex as well as unique.
Since buying the bottle of Blamage, I have continued exploring more incense based scents because there's just so much to discover. L'Orpheline continues to be one of the incense perfumes I love and I also ended up buying Puritas because I loved it.
I've been wanting to get my hands on Avignon as well as Iris Silver Mist (I seem to be drawn to cold, melancholic, atmospheric scents) but have given up hopes of finding those ever.
For those of you into documentaries, look up "The Nose - Searching for Blamage".
