A spill of sun, a whisper of smoke
A brief note breakdown to begin with:
Top Notes: Incense, Almond, Bergamot
Middle Notes: Iris, Amber, Rose, Opoponax
Base Notes: Madagascar Vanilla, Musk, Tonka Bean, Benzoin, Leather
To me, this is Samsara ! It is a metaphorical depiction of life in a bottle. The opening feels like a spill of sunlight—bergamot radiant and alive, softened by the quiet mysticism of incense and the gentle creaminess of almond. It carries the fleeting brilliance of youth: bright, immediate, and gone almost as soon as it arrives. As the fragrance unfolds, it deepens into a soft, resinous bloom where iris lends a powdery elegance and rose a restrained grace, while amber and opoponax create a warm, almost meditative core. Having explored several vanilla-led compositions, including iterations within the Shalimar lineage, I find this creation more generously steeped in vanilla, rich, refined, and seamlessly smooth, with a subtle yet captivating presence. The drydown is where it lingers most intimately….warm, cocooning, and gently transient, as though its fullness begins to recede just when one starts to fully inhabit it, leaving you insatitated, so much like a redolent of afterlife !
What remains is a delicate, trailing powder ,an echo of tonka and incense-laced vanilla clinging softly to the skin, faint yet persistent, almost like the memory of something beyond presence. In winter, I winters, i am drawn to it, misting it onto the folds of a hoodie and finding myself absentmindedly drawn back to it…in those quiet moments, it reveals its truest nature, not in proclamation, but in the quiet persistence of its afterglow.
